Sam M.
photographer, Videographer, Photomanipulation artist
I have been involved in photography for a long time, but it’s always been a hobby and not a profession. I have used cameras from the Kodak Brownie (late 1950s), a 120mm film dual lens reflex camera, 35mm film and 8mm movie film, 1984 Panasonic VHS camera/recorder, professional Panasonic digital video cameras of today, to my Nikon D850 DSLR which I now use every day. I had my first darkroom when I was 17 (1967).
Background
The photographs is just one brush stroke of a finished canvas. All it takes is one’s imagination to create something special.
I am Dallas born, and Texas old school raised. I was brought up to treat everyone with respect and to always be a gentleman. My late teens where in Reno Nevada in the late 60s when nudity was nothing to be ashamed of and “if it feels good, do it” was a moto. I honor my models wishes as to what I produce and put out there for others to see.
Served in the Army in Viet Nam in 1971. I was married in 1971 and am still devoted to my wife. My interest now is in Digital Photography and Photo Manipulation. At least 90% to 100% of what I create are from pictures that I have taken. One of my creations was made from nine pictures in four different countries all taken by me. I am interested in working with models that can look beyond their poses and into their imagination. Each shoot is different and evolves as we start working together.
I have built my own studio designed for Chroma Key photography and video shoots so there is no background per say. I’ve done shoots from a personal friends dog, a 9 year old riding a unicorn, an 18 year old implied nude with her mother covering and posing her, a model that doesn’t shot nudes but wanted to do a special project that could only be shot in the nude but in the final creation she was covered, to a friend who always wanted to do a shoot in the nude but “had never found a photographer whom she could trust” (her words, not mine).
Just some added notes, I have been a citified scuba dive sense 1967, shooting underwater pictures sense 1971 (35mm film), and underwater video sense 2007. I am also a videographer and although I have not shot a movie yet, I have videoed theater plays and produce video DVDs of those plays to be sold by the theater.
I am always looking for artist who want to explore photography but don't have or can't afford a studio and someone who wants to explore modeling but doesn't know who to trust. I make my studio available for some and I have several model I can send someone to for advise on modeling or recommendations about me personally.
